The Petroleum Technology Research Centre in Regina is leading a $9.6-million partnership to undertake the JIVE (Joint Implementation of Vapour Extraction) Project using solvent gases to extract heavy oil.

The following applicants have been approved at the department level for conditionally repayable contributions under SaskBIO.

  • Type of biofuel to be produced: Ethanol
  • Capacity of proposed facility: 150,000,000 litres per year
  • Expected date for start of construction: September 2008
  • Expected date of commissioning: July 2009
  • Estimated percentage of Saskatchewan investment: ~92%
  • The type of feedstock will be used in the proposed facility's production: Wheat
